Dstroyd and Rigonauts: Broadside take first and second in Activision Independent Games Competition
Activision has announced the winners of the first round of the Activision Independent Games Competition are Dstroyd by Peter Angstadt in first place and Rigonauts: Broadside by Engient in second.
The first place entry won $175,000 and second place took home $75,000. Total award funds of $500,000 for development support will be handed out.
"The first round of the competition was very impressive, and we have thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to show our commitment to supporting the creative spirit and innovation of independent developers," said Dave Stohl, executive VP of studios at Activision.
"We look forward to continuing to reward independent developers for their remarkable efforts, and inspiring them to turn their dreams into reality."

Dstroyd by Peter Angstadt, is a work-in-progress from the Oakland, CA native who has been working on the game off and on since he was 24 years old.
Rigonauts: Broadside is from Engient, which was co-founded by former Capcom employee Ian Slutz and Jason Earp who along with Sang Han created the second place winner.
