Druid's transformations are on a timer in Diablo 4's demo, but Blizzard is "playing with different options"
During the opening ceremony at BlizzCon 2019, people went absolutely apeshit about the reveal of the Druid class in Diablo 4.
You can't really blame them - after all this absolute unit of a man can turn into an even bigger unit with the ability to morph into various animals including a bear, allowing him to tear into groups of mobs with claw and fang.
On the game's subreddit, there's been plenty of speculation on how this works, and whether or not you'll be able to stay in your transformed state in perpetuity if you so wish. After all, it's a tradeoff, right? The bear's raw power is useful, but you lose some of the versatility of your human form.
In the short BlizzCon demo, the Druid's transformations are on a timer and a cooldown; however, this could change sometime before the game launches in the future.
"Currently within the design, it is a rapid shapeshift, so you stay in that for a time, you go back, and then you can turn into another shape," lead quest designer Jason Roberts explained to me in an interview.
"We're kind of playing with different options, but within the demo, it's on a timer."
Diablo 4 is currently without a release date.
