Driveclub release date and "full game details" coming soon, developer promises

Driveclub's release date and other details will be revealed "in the weeks to come".

Evolution Studios promised Driveclub fans a full update in a recent Facebook post.

"We know you want news about Driveclub. We are going to bring you up to speed with a full ‪Driveclub update soon, because we are immensely proud of how the game is developing and we’re confident you’ll see why when we show you more," the developer said.

"Expect an official release date, full game details and new videos in the weeks to come. We're looking forward to showing you more."

The developer also said it'll be answering tweets, emails and Facebook comments, and thanked fans for their support and enthusiasm during the game's radio silence.

It's hard to get excited about this latest promise; Evolution teased an update a whole month ago, which didn't eventuate, and neither did Sony's similar promise way back in January. We're also not too confident that there'll be no more delays; there's some evidence Sony was targeting an April launch right before it announced it was going back to the drawing board with Driveclub - and that was after the initial delay. Plus there's all those lay-offs.

Driveclub is a new racer from the team behind the Motorstorm series. A PlayStation 4 exclusive, it was originally expected when the PS4 launched but was delayed more than once. It's expected to be free-to-play for PS Plus subscribers, and to be heavily social. Our best guess for the release date is sometime in June.

Thanks, CVG.
