Driveclub hits PS Plus, pulled because "servers aren't ready"

Driveclub's nine month pratfall continues.

Just as Driveclub was announced as a PS4 launch title but got pushed back to almost a year after the console released, its intended inclusion as a free-to-play title for PS Plus members has been hugely delayed.

Hopeful PS4 fans got tremendously excited overnight when Driveclub PS Plus Edition appeared on the PlayStation Store in the weekly update, only to find that the download links didn't work. The listing was pulled shortly thereafter.

"We're preparing to launch Driveclub PS+ Edition & will have news for you soon," Sony said on the racer's Facebook page.

"The Store update today with the Driveclub PS+ Edition was premature. The servers aren't ready yet, so it's been removed while we get them ready. Apologies on their behalf for any confusion and inconvenience caused."

We don't even know how to feel about this. You may remember the months of horror after Driveclub's launch when its servers proved definitely not ready, so good on Sony and Evolution Studios for making sure they're good to go this time around. On the other hand, seriously, y'all? Seriously? You're still not ready - and nobody told the PlayStation Store team?

Oh, well! At least it look like it's definitely happening, something Sony couldn't promise a few months ago. That's probably slim comfort to anybody who pre-ordered a PS4 expecting a free racing game, though.
