Drakengard 3 delayed in Japan until December 19

Drakengard 3 has slipped from its Halloween release date by two months in Japan. It'll now arrive on shelves on December 19th. There's still no word of a release in other territories.

Square Enix says that the delay is to improve the overall quality of the game and to meet fan expectation. Drakengard has never been the most popular of Square Enix's franchise, but the previous two games have cultivated a dedicated fan base, particularly in Japan. Both previous Drakengard games have released outside of Japan, but at the moment it looks as though the third game may not follow suit.

Drakengard 3 is being developed by Access Games, who are best known for Deadly Premonition. We're not sure if that's a good thing or not. Developer of the first two games Cavia were dissolved when AQ Interactive merged its various studios together.

Thanks, Gematsu.
