Doom returns to Nintendo: battle demonic forces from Hell on Switch this holiday

Surprise! Doom will make its first appearance on a Nintendo system since 1997's Doom 64.

Doom was announced for Switch during today's Nintendo Direct presentation.

The franchise will make its way back onto Nintendo systems when Doom releases during the holiday season.

Doom's Nintendo debut occurred in 1995 when the original was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

No major revisions were announced for the game, so it looks like it'll be the standard Doom experience, but now on the go. It looks like Bethesda is giving Nintendo some love.

DOOMs

Originally released on May 13, 2016 to rather nice reviews, the first-person shooter has seen a truck load of DLC released since it arrived on digital storefronts and retail shelves. Doom was even one of our 2016 Games of the Year.

Already available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, a virtual reality version titled Doom VFR will be made available in December for HTC Vive and PlayStation VR.

Releasing on Switch completes the picture.
