Doom open beta extended and PC frame rate unlocked

The Doom open beta has been extended for everyone, and there's a special treat for PC gamers.

Rejoice, denizens of the master race, for you will be shackled to a locked frame rate no more.

Tiago Sousa confirmed that the PC frame rate wouldn't be capped, so that should be good news to those of you planning to pick up Doom on PC.

In case you have the same question as one twitter user, who asked, "Why has this been relegated to a 'feature' when it's been the expectation and standard for over 20 years?", Sousa replied that it was "not relegated - technical debt on this from prev engine was fairly encrusted + engeniering [sic] takes time, this is not macdonalds". Fair enough.

If you've been enjoying the open beta over the weekend, you can squeeze in a bit more playtime, as it's been extended for an extra day.

Although reviews of the open beta on Steam haven't been glowing, if you've been having a good time, make the most of it.

Doom is out on May 13 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
