Doom Eternal will feature a hub area if you just want to chill for a moment
Doom Eternal won't all be ripping and tearing (although there's going to be a lot of ripping and tearing).
QuakeCon has just been and gone this weekend, and as expected we've gotten a bit more insight into the upcoming Doom Eternal. Will you be killing demons? Yes. Will there be a lot of crazy power-ups? For sure. Will there be a hub area where Doom guy can just sort of hang out? Um, apparently.
This comes via the video below of the Doom Eternal panel - kudos to PC Gamer for spotting this.
Creative director Hugo Martin and Marty Stratton answered questions about the game during the panel, and after discussing where the guy's strength comes from (he's not a protein shake drinker, apparently), they started to hint towards a hub area in the game.
"Should we talk about the hub?", Stratton asked.
Apparently we'll get to see where Doom Guy "hangs out" in Doom Eternal, a series that has, traditionally, shirked such details (Doom 3, recently re-released, perhaps comes closest to thinking about these things).
How much we'll actually find out about the guy's life remains to be seen, but Martin made it pretty clear that this stuff could be avoided. "You'll learn a lot about him through the game, if you look for it and pay attention."
This matches up with earlier promises that the game would tell us more about Doom Marine's life.
Doom Eternal releases for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch on November 22.
