Doom Eternal mod brings horde mode
Doom Eternal's combat may actually lend itself very well to a horde mode.
Modder Proteh has released the first version of their Doom Eternal horde mode mod. As you might expect, the mode tests players' mettle by pitting them against rooms of increasingly difficult enemies.
Though the default horde setup is intact, the mod does have a few interesting twists. For one, players start only with the shogun, with both its mods unlocked. As you progress through the rounds, you'll unlock weapon points, weapon mods, and even praetor suit points, mastery coins and runes to upgrade your suit. Upgrades also include sentinel crystals and extra lives, meaning essentially all of the game's normal powers can be gained as you make progress.
Once you're fully loaded, you'll enter the final round, which Proteh says is more difficult than any other combat arena in the main game. As for the arenas themselves, they'll be based on existing Doom Eternal levels, though some are new.
You can download the mod at Nexus Mods, where you'll also find install instructions.
In other Doom Eternal news, the first part of the game's Ancient Gods DLC will be out this October. Until then, why not see the game running at 4K 120fps on the new RTX 3080.
