Doom and Quake co-creator teasing new FPS project
John Romero, one of the original founders of id Software and the co-creator of classics such as Doom and Quake, has been out of the game for a while.
If you don't count the Doom level he recently created, it's been a long while since Romero's been directly involved in a shooter project.
It looks as though this about to change, judging by a recent tweet from Romero. As you can see below, the veteran designer directly implies the new game will be a PC first-person-shooter.
The Tweet is referencing a Shack News story about something called HOXAR. The website at the link is for a fictional company that produces a system called Blackroom.
According to the site, Blackroom is "a fully-immersive experience without physical restriction" that doesn't require goggles, very much akin to a Holodeck.
Not much else can be learned from the site, though whatever HOXAR is, it has Facebook and Twitter pages.
The name of the new shooter could be Blackroom, or maybe HOXAR is just the name of an in-game corporation.
We'll have to wait and see.
