You don't need rhythm to play Cadence of Hyrule
One of Nintendo's big surprises at E3 this year was The Legend of Zelda spinoff Cadence of Hyrule, a crossover with the rhythm-based indie hit Crypt of the Necrodancer. Cadence of Hyrule might look like your typical, top-down Zelda game, but like Crypt of the Necrodancer, every action you take is performed to a musical beat.
Don't let that scare you off though, because there's an option that changes the gameplay entirely.
Polygon reports that Cadence of Hyrule developer Brace Yourself Games included an accessibility feature called 'Fixed Beat Mode' that only permits enemies to move when you do. Think Lara Croft GO. It's a great inclusion for players who don't have any rhythm or who just want to enjoy the game at a different pace. If you do choose to play to the tempo, enemies drop more diamonds – the game's currency – as a reward.
Cadence, the protagonist from Crypt of the Necrodancer, makes an appearance in the crossover game, but after the tutorial, you have to choose to play as either Link or Zelda. In true Zelda fashion, you'll explore both an overworld, which changes every time you start a new game, and procedurally generated dungeons riddled with monsters.
Cadence of Hyrule launches on June 13 for the Nintendo Switch.
