DICE threatens BF3 beta players with account bans
DICE has released a statement to participants in the Battlefield 3 beta, claiming that EA may ban the accounts of players who join "any unofficial/hacked servers".
On Saturday the Battlefield 3 Blog added a news post claiming that the beta had been hacked to allow alternative game modes with support for up to 128 players. Officially, the Battlefield 3 beta features support for a maximum of up to 32 players in Rush mode on the Operation Metro map.
DICE claims that they have "tested out Operation Metro on conquest with 64 and 128 players, and can confirm their existence, albeit, the 128 player server lagged considerably."
As a result, DICE have released a statement on Battlelog informing beta participants that joining any unofficial/hacked servers can "compromise your EA account and have it banned by EA".
The proposed ban would affect not only access to the Battlefield 3 beta, but would also render any other EA games associated with the banned account inaccessible.
Thanks, CVG.
