Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition in development for Xbox One, but Blizzard can't confirm a release yet

Diablo 3 is in development for Xbox One, Blizzard has said, noting that despite the game being in development, a release announcement is yet to be made.

Speaking to Videogamer, lead producer Alex Mayberry said that this is the same path they took with developing for Xbox 360 and PS3, despite not actually announcing an Xbox One release of the game.

"We have that pipeline worked out, We've already done it with the 360 and PS3, so that team knows how to develop at the same time for both of those platforms. That's just what we do. And then Blizzard and Microsoft can work out whatever they work out.

"The point is we are developing for Xbox [One] and PS4 simultaneously. We hit those major platforms and then our goal as a development team is to make them run."

Mayberry added that he's not aware of contract details with Microsoft and thus won't comment on a release confirmation for the RPG.

Developing for two platforms usually means that there's a release expected somewhere down the line, so an Xbox One version is very likely. Especially considering the initial announcement of the game coming to consoles only named the PS3 version of the game.

Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition is currently only announced for PS4 and will include both the original Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls, the game's expansion pack.

Reaper of Souls comes out tomorrow worldwide for PC.
