Dev team reverse-engineers Wii U GamePad to reveal its secrets
Nintendo's Wii U GamePad has been reverse-engineered by the same team that created the Dolphin emulator, and the exercise has unearthed some interesting developments about the device's upgradable firmware and more.
Eurogamer reports that the test found Nintendo's pad to be upgradable via firmware updates, and that current Wii U firmware can already support two GamePads, which is a feature Nintendo has said will come down the line.
Developer Pierre Bourdon shed light on what this could mean for the future of the device, stating, "The firmware of the chip handling communication with the GamePad (called DRH) can be upgraded, so this might be in Nintendo's future plans. Only speculation though, we didn't see anything in the firmware that would indicate they are planning to do this".
