You may not have asked for hard choices, but you're getting them. If you're paralysed with indecision, we can help.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is full of choices. Some of the choices you're forced to make are more binary than others. Even more difficult still, some of the choices in the game have no specifically good outcome - this isn't a choice between good or evil, black or white - it's shades of grey, and the choices aren't easy.

If you can't quite bear to find out naturally or make a decision on your own, we're here to help. Here's a list of the major binary choices in the game that make you choose between one mission or another with descriptions as vague and as spoiler-free as possible to help you make a decision on which to choose.

If you're paralysed by indecision, we've got you covered. We'll be vague as we said, but be aware there will be light spoilers for the outcome of each choice below.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Choice: Should you choose The Bank or Allison?

After a narrow escape of his own, Adam gets a couple of calls in quick succession. Each of these calls is from an ally that tries to call you to an urgent situation. They are:

  • The woman ultimately responsible for the train station bombing, Allison, is about to be sacrificed by Aug cultists known as the Church of the Machine God. If she's sacrificed, any chance of learning more about the train station bombing as TF29 has tasked you with doing will be lost.
  • A vault is about to be raided by its owner at the local bank. This is no big deal, but the vault contains intelligence on Orchid, the new superweapon that your Juggernaut Collective friends believe is being developed by the Illuminati. If you don't get to the bank and empty their vault before they do, this information will be lost forever.

Which should you choose - Allison or the Bank?

    If you choose Allison:
  • The bank mission will be lost forever. You'll have to fight or stealth your way through the church members who hang out in an apartment complex they've taken over. Here's a nice thing about this area: There's lots of aug enemies who'll drop items like Neuropozyne, Biocells and other aug-useful items.
  • Miller at TF29 will be happy with you no matter the overall outcome of the mission.
  • Eventually when you find Allison you'll have to persuade her in a conversation boss battle, which you should be familiar with by now. If you persuade her correctly not only will Adam make some progress in his investigation, but you'll receive an item you can use towards the very end of the game to help you to save lives.
  • The item you get can have a firm impact on a later mission in the game - but the same is true of the item received in the Bank Heist mission, which you won't get here.
    If you choose the Bank:
  • Allison will be killed and her intelligence will be lost. The bank mission also lacks the aug enemies. Instead you'll be fighting Palisade Property Bank security and robots, who do generally drop less interesting loot.
  • Miller will be p**sed and Allison will die, but your hacker collective friends will be happy.
  • However, the pay-off at the end of this mission is a touch stronger - you'll get significant intel on the Orchid weapon and if you search around an antidote to the Orchid - but your escape route from the bank will also put you in front of several high-end vaults that can be hacked into.
  • Within these vaults you'll find a one-of-a-kind battle rifle, praxis points, and generally a lot of good loot, but keep in mind you'll need decent hacking skills or several multi-tools to get into them. Jensen also walks away with an antidote to the Orchid, which depending on how you play could come in handy to save lives much later in the game.
