Destiny: your Ghost will be voiced by Uncharted's Nolan North in The Taken King
Bungie is re-recording all dialogue lines spoken by the Ghost with Uncharted's Nolan North.
The Dinklebot is one of the many things that change in Destiny with the arrival of The Taken King expansion in September. Bungie will be using your companion, the Ghost, often enough in the future. So much that they're re-recording its entire lines of dialogue.
The studio has recast veteran voice-actor Nolan North for the role. Meaning Peter Dinklage's work will no longer be part of Destiny.
North will of course record new dialogue for the Ghost that we'll be listening to in The Taken King, where the character'll be playing an even bigger role. He'll also be playing the character in the foreseeable future.
"I was really excited to do this role. You want to give him as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There’s a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it," North told told Game Informer.
The Ghost's "cadences and quirks" will remain the same, with Nolan changing the delivery. Dialogue lines from vanilla Destiny won't change to create a "consistent storytelling experience from beginning to end".
"We wanted Nolan North’s version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty," creative director Luke Smith added.
So there you have it. Very soon, the Dinklebot will be a memory only Year One players will remember. Joining the likes of the Loot Cave, Crota's End glitches, and a time when auto rifles mattered.
