Destiny Xur update: should you buy Thunderlord?

Thunderlord has been a solid heavy in Destiny for years, have things changed?

Xur has brought a heavy Exotic weapon this week in Destiny. His pick is Thunderlord, the machine gun from Year 1. This is the most recent update, but the core stats haven't changed much.

Thunderlord is still a pretty good heavy machine gun. Doing Arc damage also helps, especially when the Nightfall or Heroic have Arc Burn.

The Lighting Rounds perk increases accuracy the more you hold down the trigger. Feeding Frenzy, which increases your reload speed after getting kills is great because you can keep this damage train going with minimal downtime, provided you have the ammo.

One of Thunderlord's lesser-known bonuses is that getting kills with the weapon have a chance to cause an explosion. Thunderlord isn't a top pick for the Wrath of the Machine raid, but it's an overall really solid weapon for most PvE scenarios. Not so much for PvP.
