Destiny Xur update: should you buy Hawkmoon?
Xur brought a bit of an old school weapon this week in Destiny. That's the Exotic hand cannon Hawkmoon, once regarded as one of the best weapons in the game. But that was in Year 1, what about now?
This once mighty hand cannon was actually on sale twice in February, and it returns again in less than five months.
Hawkmoon is still a good pick for casual PvP and PvE, but it's not the obvious choice it once was. One of the weapon's main advantages used to be that its Luck in the Chamber and Holding Aces perks would stack, giving a decent bonus damage in PvP. That's no longer the case.
Although these perks could make for fun encounters, because of the randomness nature of the bonus damage you get, they're not a killer combo anymore. That said, Hawkmoon remains a choice for PvE, as it's satisfying to use. Likewise, it's not top-tier anymore, even in PvE.
In short: it's good to have and fun to play with, but not a must like it used to.
