Destiny won't host a Crimson Days event this year, but a big update is coming sometime in or after spring

Destiny: Rise of Iron players won't be celebrating Crimson Days and will have to make other plans for Valentine's Day. Don't worry, we have suggestions.

Destiny plays host to a number of seasonal events through the year, but the expected Valentine's Day event has been cancelled.

In the latest Bungie Weekly Update, the developer said Crimson Days won't be making a return this year because the Live Team is busy working on something else.

"We have other plans. We’re dedicating our efforts to delivering different things for you to play. ... You haven’t heard the last from the Live Team," Bungie community manager David "Deej" Dague wrote.

"Their next content update is taking shape. We’re super excited to tell you about it – but not so excited that we’ll jump the gun. There will come a time when we’ll take a seat on our streaming set to talk about how we’ll spend the springtime together. That moment will come closer to the thaw."

"It’s rarely our policy to issue guarantees about things that are not yet certified for download. Given the work that is being done behind the scenes, however, we feel like we can start to call the shot."

Exciting stuff; the Live Team has been responsible for some of the best free content to come to Destiny, and for ushering in terrific patches to balance and game systems. Cross your fingers for a repeat of Destiny's 2015 April update.

It is a bit sad that there's no February event to look forward to, but some Destiny players felt Crimson Days was a bit half-baked. The rose petals in the Tower were lovely, though.

Happily, there's no reason you can't play Destiny with your loved one on any day of the year. If you are polygamous and have five loved ones, why, that's a whole raid team right there.
