Destiny: The Taken King download is 20GB or less

Destiny: The Taken King is a pretty hefty update, so you'll need a suitably large chunk of HDD space to install it.

Destiny: The Taken King is available on-disc, but those who already own the base game are more likely to opt for the DLC version.

If that's you, take a look at your HDD before The Taken KIng's September 15 launch and make sure you've got enough space. Here's the skinny, direct from the latest Bungie Weekly Update:

  • PS4: 18GB
  • Xbox One: 18GB
  • PlayStation 3: 20GB
  • Xbox 360: 10GB

Some models of last-gen consoles are pretty damn tight on hard drive space. If you happen to still be using a non-upgraded 20GB console, you're gonna run into problems trying to install The Taken King.

Bungie recommends upgrading your hard drive if possible, or if you're ready to take the plunge, updating to current-gen hardware; if you stay in the same family, you can bring all your data with you. If you take the latter option you will need to rebuy the game, although your DLC will transfer.

If you're really stuck, Bungie suggests contacting Activision Customer Support.

"If you are validated as an existing and active Destiny player on one of the 20GB consoles as of September 15, 2015, and you submit your validation requirements to us no later than December 31, 2015, we will assist you in finding the right solution for your console’s storage space," Bungie said.
