In Destiny, Venus is something of an enigma. It was once colonised by humanity, and played host to the Ishtar Collective, a huge research and educational centre. During the Collapse the Vex claimed it for their own, transforming much of the interior of the planet into a machine like themselves over the course of a single day, and threatening to do the same throughout the solar system before the Traveller stopped them.

Both humanity's excavations and those of the Vex have turned up ruins so ancient as to be beyond comprehension - billions of years old. We don't know what the Vex want with these ruins, but we do know that we don't want them to have them.

Bungie has cranked the difficulty up significantly between the Moon and Venus, so if you're been rushing through the core story missions and ignoring optional activities you will struggle to battle the slow-moving but implacably deadly Vex.
