Destiny servers will go down for a hot fix Tuesday morning

Destiny server issues? Bungie has an update designed to remedy them, although the shooter will be offline briefly as a result.

Destiny will be offline for "several hours" on Tuesday morning, US time, in order to allow Bungie to perform maintenance work and apply the latest hot fix.

An exact window was not provided, but the fix will be applied around 7:00AM PDT on October 7, so expect downtime on either side of that. It's unfortunate timing for European gamers.

According to a post on Bungie.net, the update should help resolve a number of persistent connection errors which have prevented some players from getting online reliably.

"Most of the changes included in this update will improve the technology that enables players to connect to Destiny. The player experience will remain unchanged, aside from the stability for some users who have encountered issues connecting to servers," the developer said.

Here are the full patch notes:

    Client fixes
  • Added more data logging for matchmaking systems
  • Improved connectivity failure handling to reduce beaver (Kick To Orbit events) KTOs

  • Internal tools fixes to speed up our release process
