Destiny patch to address weaksauce primaries, do something about shotgun spam

Destiny's ever changing meta is due for another shakeup.

Destiny developer Bungie has announced a new patch, scheduled to hit the shooter sometime in mid-February - hopefully.

Destiny update 2.5.0.2 is specifically focused on Crucible balance.

In the latest Bungle Weekly Update, senior Destiny designer Josh Hamrick outlined the five main goals of the upcoming patch:

  1. Promote alternatives and counters to Shotguns
  2. Align potency of Primary Weapons with surgical changes
  3. File down a couple of issues from each class
  4. Fix some issues with a sampler platter of Exotics
  5. Supporting adjustments to Special Ammunition

Anybody familiar with Destiny's meta will recognise frequent community bugbears here. People are always complaining about the long time to kill on primary weapons, and the dominance of shotguns in PvP has been a problem since day one, with Bungie regularly nerfing and buffing secondary weapons to try and sort it out. Perfect balance is naught but a dream, but it's nice to see Bungie's still chasing it anyway.

Speaking as a below average Destiny PvP player, the best way to fix Crucible's problems would be to ban everyone better than me, buff whatever primary I'm using that day, nerf Warlocks, break every sniper rifle across your knee immediately, nerf Warlocks further and either throw The Clever Dragon right in the bin or give me one with a good roll. Just some hot tips Bungie, you have my number if you need more of my helpful advice.

Just as a reminder, all Destiny patches and content updates apply to the PS4 and Xbox One builds only; support for PS3 and Xbox 360 ended at release of Rise of Iron in September 2016.
