Destiny is all about wolves and moons, apparently

Destiny's lore is currently largely a mystery, but one fan has taken an intense look at Bungie's designs and come up with an interesting theory.

Destiny makes repeated use of moon iconography in the form of the Traveller, the huge, dormant AI that hangs in the sky. The moon is also the source of the Hive, apparently, and as one of the four locations in the first game, we know we'll be spending a lot of time there.

But YouTuber Killworthy Gaming thinks there's more to it than that. In a new video called Secrets of the Tricorn, he unpacks a variety of visual design elements, in-game themes and miscellaneous Bungie ephemera to uncover what he believes to be a running theme: wolves.

Now, there are plenty of wolves to be found with even a cursory glance at Destiny - many of the best pieces of equipment have wolves on them, and the second expansion will be called House of Wolves. But according to Killworthy Gaming, the Destiny tricorn itself is a wolf face.

Woah. Bit of a stretch, but plausible.

Some players found Destiny's story to be a bit lacking during the alpha and beta, but I loved it. It's sort of just lying there rather than made explicit in exposition, and so much of it is mystery. I have hopes Bungie will never really explain it, and we'll spend the next decade picking it apart the way we do Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.

What are the various armies of the Darkness, and where did they come from? Why are Guardians apparently immortal? What is the Traveller? Where did the Darkness come from?

All these mysteries and more will hopefully never be made clear, but we'll have our chance to form theories when Destiny hits PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 9. Say it with me now: we're ready.
