Destiny artists share gorgeous development assets
Destiny developer Bungie is staffed by some very talented people, and lucky for us, they don't mind sharing.
Destiny concept artist Dorje Bellbrook and senior artist Milton Cadogan have both recently released some of their work via their portfolio sites.
Although we've seen plenty of Destiny concept art over the years, Bellbrook's Blogspot is a treasure trove of previously unreleased images.
It's particularly interesting to see the playful explorations on themes as Bellbrook nailed down various designs, and to read notes giving insight into Bungie's aesthetic goals. Below you'll see some human colony architecture; apparently Bungie specified that "buildings have recognizable floors and windows, so as to maximize familiarity".
It's also cool to see how much things changed - the Vex warp gate below looks very different from the end product.
Meanwhile, Cadogan has published a number of high-polygon models on his ArtStation.
These are so detailed, even without textures; I wish there was some way to get a better look at weapons in-game. Sure, you can open the upgrade menu, but it would be great to be able to pan and zoom, and rotate the models.
