Destiny 2 Trials of the Nine event kicks off today - here's the start times and everything we know
Destiny 2's first trial is almost upon us, and we've got all the details.
The time has come - Bungie is finally launching Destiny 2's new Trials of the Nine Cruicible event today, September 15. Players have had to sit tight for a few days between the launch and this content arriving, but the wait is at last almost over - and the timing seems right, with many tidying away the vast majority of Destiny 2's main story content and moving on to the meat of the game, that lovely post-game grind that's described in detail in our Destiny 2 guide.
The Trials of the Nine now replace the Trials of Osiris, and Bungie has been teasing the change in tone that this shift will bring with it. In a teaser they've told fans to prepare to "face your fellow guardians in high-intensity Crucible combat", which honestly sounds like just the ticket.
"The Raid is not the final test that we have to reveal," Bungie's official blog teased ahead of the launch. "Destiny 2 still has new plateaus for you to scale. Bring a Fireteam and your spirit of competition. You have a new ritual to learn." Bungie has also used the pre-trial preparation and updates to make some changes to the Crucible in the name of balance.

Destiny 2 Trials of the Nine Cruicible event start time and end time
Trials of the Nine goes live on September 15, as mentioned above. Once it's up you'll be able to access it as much as you like - but only for a limited duration. Here's when it kicks off:
- 6pm British Summertime for the UK
- 7pm European Central Time
- 1pm Eastern US
- 10am Pacific US
- 3am (September 16) in Australian Central Time
The event will end at some point, but we don't have an idea of when yet. Similar events in the original Destiny tended to last five days over a long weekend sort of period, though if this will be the same is anyone's guess.
All about Trials of the Nine
Currently we don't know much about the Trials of the Nine for certain, though we can infer a bunch of stuff based on the format of events of a similar style in the previous Destiny title. For instance, it's likely that you'll have to reach a certain point in the story (though perhaps as little as completing the first mission) in order to access the mode - but that's likely not a problem for most.
The event features four-on-four player versus player matches (one more per team than the original Destiny) and will take place on one specific map - so you should play hard and learn the map and then use that to your advantage.
Those successful in Destiny's Trials of Osiris were able to earn exclusive weapons and armor featured around the lore showcased in the mode, making this a great way to grind out loot and other rewards if you can put together a good fireteam and win. The expectation is that this mode will be similar - just improved with nips and tucks where the original mode wasn't entirely perfect.
Oh, and Xur is a member of the titular Nine - so it seems he'll be likely to finally rear his head once this event launches.
