Destiny 2 PC players believe there might have been a second wave of unfair bannings
Destiny 2 is wonderfully optimised for PC, but it's not necessarily having the smoothest launch.
Two weeks ago, Bungie admitted that several of the users that had been banned within the PC version of Destiny 2 did not deserve it, and that they had committed an error. Although details are scarce on how many players this affected of the 400-odd banned, the incorrect bans were promptly overturned.
Now, after a second wave of bans for cheating, some users who find themselves unable to play are claiming that they, too, have been incorrectly banned. Whether or not this is actually the case, of course, remains to be seen, but after the first incident there is precedent for people to be suspicious.
Kotaku is reporting that some users are crying foul on the game's forums for Destiny 2, stating that they believe themselves to have been banned erroneously.
One user, who says that they are a triple A developer, believes that some of the software on their computer that they use for work may have lead to them being identified for banning, despite them not using it in-game.
Bungie, for their part, is adament in posts to the forum thread that the bans are being made for legitimate reasons. "We looked into it", writes Bungie's 'Cozmo'. "Our recent wave of protective security measures were reviewed extensively and all were identified as having cheat tools running multiple times."
Hopefully if a mistake has been made, we'll know soon.
