Destiny 2 PC beta: here's a look at challenge Auras, Transmat Effects and loot chests from High Value Targets
The Destiny 2 PC beta went live for those who pre-ordered yesterday, and players were able to get a look at a couple of new additions which weren't in the console tester.
Today, the Destiny 2 beta will open up to all PC players at 1pm ET, 6pm UK, 7pm CEST regardless of pre-order status. To find out exact start time, system requirements, known issues and more, just hit up the handy link there.
Bungie performed maintenance on the beta this morning, so regardless of whether you played the early access version or not, players will be required to accept all updates for access.
In the video below, Arekkz takes a looks at Auras, which are effects players can earn from challenging activities. These will be similar to the blue flames earned in Destiny 1 when completing the weekly Nightfall.
Transmat Effects, which alter the spawn animation, are also on display and these are apparently tied to the player's ship. The video shows four different varieties: the basic blue spawn animation, green flames, a red Crucible crest, and the purple Jade Rabbit. These likely come from Engrams, said Arekkz, which can be taken to merchant Tess Everis for decoding as she's all about cosmetics.
Also in the video, you will see Light has been replaced by Power considering Ghaul stole everyone's Light something needs to level, right? Power denotes the average Attack and Defense values across all currently equipped gear. Higher power, as one would properly assume, increases damage output and defense.
Having your most powerful gear equipped when decrypting Engrams will also no longer be necessary, as Destiny 2 will instead check for the player's best possible loadout.
Loot chests dropping from High Value Targets where they fall are also shown, and the drops include Glimmer, reputation tokens, and sometimes gear. In the beta though, the player is unable to acquire what's inside the chest.
Each rep token earned from loot chests in Destiny 2 will be tied to the planet the player was on at the time, and can be handed into the proper reputation vendor.
Towards the end of the video, Arekkz also discusses more clues pertaining to what appears to be Destiny 2’s first raid, Leviathan.
Destiny 2 is out on consoles September 6 and on PC October 24. The PC beta ends on August 31, unless Bungie extends it.
