DeNA lays off large number of employees at San Francisco and Vancouver offices
DeNA has issues a round of lay offs at its development studio in Vancouver, and additional sources have stated many staffers at the firm's San Francisco office have been let go as well.
A company spokesperson confirmed the Vancouver redundancies to GamesBeat after the studio's product manager David Phan revealed the "significant staff reduction" over social media.
According to a statement from DeNA Group, the lay offs are part of restructuring its North American studio operations.
“The West will continue to be one of our core markets for our mobile gaming business, and this decision has no relation to our alliance with Nintendo or the popularity of Final Fantasy Record Keeper," the representative told GamesBeat.
Nintendo and DeNA announced a mobile games partnership back in March which would create new games based Nintendo IP for smartphones.
DeNA said it hopes the deal will bring in $25 million a month in revenue.
