We now know what's behind the mysterious door in the Demon's Souls PS5 remake

Finally, some closure!

Players now have answers to one of the biggest mysteries in the PS5 remake of Demon's Souls.

Since the game's launch on November 12, people have been trying to figure out what is behind a brand new door in Bluepoint's remake of the From Software's 2009 cult classic. Luckily, Souls speedrunner Distortion2 has been hard at work since release trying to find a way to access this new area.

The prevailing theory suggested that the Ceramic Coin in Demon's Souls - itself a new item - might be related to the mysterious door. In the end, Distortion2 spent a long, long time collecting these rare coins, before trading them with Sparkly the Crow, an NPC who trades items with the player. In return, he received a rusty key, which it turns out, opens this mysterious door.

And what's inside? A set of armour based on the area boss, Penetrator. As with the aforementioned Ceramic Coins and the strange door, the armour set is also new to the PS5 remake of Demon's Souls.

Previously, Distortion2 tried to glitch his way through the door, but it turns out what's inside is protected by some kind of a forcefield, so he wasn't able to actually reach the other side.

The PS5 remake of Demon's Souls was announced in June and debuted on November 12 alongside Sony's brand new console. SIE Worldwide Studios creative director Gavin Moore recently said that this new version of the game almost had an Easy Mode. While this feature was never introduced, Demon's Souls does feature more than 180 videos that give players assistance.
