Del Toro: Levine is "one of the best world creators"

Lauded filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has described BioShock creator Ken Levine as one of the masters of world creation.

"Two days ago, my daughter and I finished BioShock Infinite. It's such a great mindfuck," del Toro said at an E3 event, as reported by Polygon.

"It's also beautiful and I think, obviously, Levine always has such beautiful cross-cultural references, like Comstock and the Civil War and all that.

"I love the richness of those worlds. He's one of the best world creators in any of the visual forms, period."

High praise indeed, and del Toro has a longstanding interest in games. He loves Portal, for example, and signed up with THQ to produce a triology of horror sandbox titles which were an unfortunate casualty of the publisher's collapse - although there is yet hope.
