Defiance PS3 patch expected early this week

Trion Worlds expects a much-requested update for the PlayStation 3 version of Defiance to drop before the shine wears off Monday.

Executive producer Nathan Richardsson wrote in a blog post that the patch was in final internal testing over the weekend and was expected to go live on Monday US time.

The update will also add a number of server-side fixes already applied to the PC and Xbox 360 version.

Regarding other versions of the game, Richardsson said Xbox 360 server issues have been "massively improved" although not resolved, and that Trion is taking hacks and cheating very seriously on the PC side.

"We have a team from many departments constantly working on this. From engineering, to customer support, security, networking, business intelligence and game design. I‘m happy to report that we‘re now banning far more people, whether they successfully do it or just attempt to," he added.

"Our tools, detections, reporting and pre-ventive mechanisms have iproved considerably in the last two weeks after incrased focus on them. Some have been deployed, more is being deployed today, more coming. I know that some players linger in there for a while before we ban them but sometimes we just allow them so we can watch them. We like to watch."

Defiance is an MMO shooter which ties in with the SyFy series of the same name.

Thanks, Massively.
