Dead or Alive 5 to use four-point hold system

After overwhelming fan feedback in favour of the more complex four-point hold system, Dead or Alive 5's director has dropped plans to return to thie third game's three-point scheme.

According to Siliconera, director Yohei Shimbori had previously favoured Dead or Alive 3's three-point hold system over Dead or Alive 4's four-points, but has changed his mind.

"We got a lot of feedback on holds from around the world," he told fans on Twitter.

“Four point holds work really well for game balance, but I was worried that beginners couldn’t pull off mid kick holds. But all of the feedback we got from players with the alpha demo gave me the final nudge to go with 4-point."

Shimbori said he himself once struggled with holds, but is reasonably certain he can make the more complex system user-friendly.

"Of course, we will make it so new players can still have fun with 4-point holds. I had some beginners on the team try it out, and they said that they could use 4-point holds with a little practice," he said.

"So I'm thinking of putting in an opportunity that gives that little bit of practice.

"Thinking back to my own experience, it wasn't like I was able to do holds perfectly from the start either. Once you get the hang of it, holds make the game a lot more fun," he added.

Apparently Shimbori has more changes to share with fans, but probably won't spill until after E3 2012.

Dead or Alive 5 is expected in September on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
