Dead or Alive 5 sells 580,000 units
Tecmo Koei ended its second quarter well on the way to its goal of 1 million sales for Dead or Alive 5.
Overall, Tecmo Koei made a ¥4.2 billion profit in its first six months, a year-on-year decrease of 1.8%, with net sales of ¥13.7 billion, a tiny 0.7% year-on-year increase.
Game Software remains the publisher's most lucrative division but did note year-on-year decreases while its Pachinko and Media & Rights departments both posted significant increases.
The company is yet to release its presentation materials in English, but Siliconera reports worldwide sales of Dead or Alive have reached 580,000 units. In an earlier annual report, the publisher targeted 1 million lifetime sales for the fighter.
The consumer game division made an overall operating profit of ¥869 million ($10.9 million) as a result of Dead or Alive 5's efforts alongside with its other worldwide releases Pokemon Conquest and One Piece: Pirate Warriors, as well as Japan exclusives Samurai Warriors Chronicle 2nd for Nintendo 3DS, Warriors Orochi 3 Special for PSP, and Nobunaga’s Ambition: Tendou with Power Up Kit for PlayStation Vita.
Tecmo Koei reportedly seemed pleased with its DLC sales and retail reorders (shipped units).
