Yager Productions files for insolvency over Dead Island 2 being pulled from studio
Yager Development is in the process of insolvency proceedings due to the cancellation of Dead Island 2. The company said this will only affect the Yager Productions GMBH sub-division of the company which was working on the title.
According to a statement from the company's managing director Timo Ullmann, the insolvency filing "is a direct result from the early termination" of Dead Island 2. He said the proceedings will help protect the staff and secure employee wages.
"In the course of the proceedings, we gain time to sort out the best options for reorganizing this entity," he said per GI.biz.
Yager Productions was formed to develop Dead Island 2, and worked on the title for three years before Deep Silver dissolved the relationship.
According to all parties involved, the relationship between the companies ended due to "respective visions of the project" faling out of alignment,
Deep Silver has yet to announce a replacement studio.
