DC Universe Online still suffering PS3 freezes after hotfix

SoE has dropped an update on the PlayStation 3 -freezing DC Universe Online bug. It's not the news you were hoping for.

In a statement on the game's official Facebook page, executive producer DeadMeat said a recent hotfix had reduced the number of crash occurrences, but not completely rectified the problem.

The freezing is caused by an out-of-memory error, which will always crash a console and if difficult to combat.

"Quite simply the game gets into a state where it requires more memory and there is no more to give. ... This is unfortunately a very hard error to fix since it is usually situational. Meaning that you need the right combination of things going on around you at the right moment in time to trigger the fault.

"We cannot create in house the same conditions that thousands of players online can so we have to make guesses about where the issues lie and try and find a solution. We have obviously not guessed them all."

DeadMeat acknowledged the situation is unacceptable and promised to continue working on the problem.

DC Universe Online is also available for PC.

Thanks, Massively.
