DayZ creator calls for crowdfunding accountability

DayZ creator Dean "Rocket" Hall has politely suggested we all do more to hold developers accountable for crowdfunded projects.

As DayZ standalone was partially funded through Steam Early Access, Hall is in a position to comment on the subject:

Hall didn't elaborate on the theme, but presumably he'd like you to not give money to dodgy projects, and for games media to raise awareness of projects that fall through.

Crowd funding is a hit topic at the moment thanks to 22 Cans' apparent failure to deliver on its Kickstarter promises about Godus.

Less prominently, The Stomping Land has gone AWOL with its funds.

There seem to be some serious problems with Kickstart that need addressing. Even high profile projects suffer huge delays and a lack of communication. For example, even the big granddaddy, Double Fine Adventure Game, is still incomplete.

That said, inXile and Obsidian seem to be doing pretty well with their efforts, and Harebrained Schemes was so communicative and produced such a good game that it raised $1.2 million for its next project.
