EA ceases development on its MOBA Dawngate
EA has cancelled development of its MOBA Dawngate and those playing around in the beta have 90 days to play around in it before the servers are turned off.
Apparently, the game wasn't making much progress, so the development process has been halted.
"Dawngate has been in beta for almost 18 months, including a full open beta for the past six months," wrote Waystone's Matt Bromberg on the website. "Through that time, we've taken a lot of feedback from players and delivered lots of new features and innovations. And although the game has grown, we're not seeing the progress we'd hoped for.
"This isn't the outcome we wanted, but beta testing is about learning and improving, and ultimately, about making difficult decisions about how to proceed."
Those who participated in the beta and spent real-world money on the game will be refunded what they spent. EA hopes to have all refunds processed within the next 10 days.
"If we don't have current payment information on file for you, we'll need to reach out first before initiating the refund [via help.ea.com]," Bromber added.
Along with ceasing development, EA will be dissolving the development team, telling Game Informer it is "making every effort to relocate" Waystone employees "to new assignments within EA."
Dawngate was announced by EA during the publisher’s E3 2014 conference.
