Dawngate: EA's MOBA shown in first video preview, beta sign-ups start this week

Dawngate is EA's answer to the MOBA scene, and developer Waystone Games has gone on camera to talk about the title, and its respect for its predecessors.

Machinima has the clip watermarked so I won't embed it here, but if you want to check it out you can do so here.

Dawngate's maps have a lot of story, according to the team, and will each deliver economy and territorial competition. There are economy objectives that provide income to your team, and whichever team controls these points will spawn workers who will harvest resources to let the player buy items.

Enemies can wipe out the other team's workers to lower their income generation, and opposing players can also wrestle control of economy points way from you if you're not careful.

There are also towers which serve as your bases, and are guarded by giant entities called Striders who can roam the battlefield if they become untethered. Energy flowing through lanes can be fought over and re-directed depending on which towers are left standing.

There is a beta phase coming Friday, May 24 and you can sign up here if interested.

It's all sounding rather deep and interesting. What do you think? Let us know below.

Thanks Eurogamer.
