David Jaffe's next game may involve "a gun and a person holding a gun"

God of War and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe seems to be considering making a shooter.

Discussing first-person shooters with IGN, Jaffe said he has narrowed down plans for his next game to two options, and one of them sounds pretty shooter-y.

"There is a gun in [one of the games]. And you hold it," he said.

"And all the things that I can sit here and passionately discuss and preach to you are absolutely things that I'm thinking about doing if it turns out the game we're thinking about doing gets made next involves a gun and a person holding a gun."

The outspoken designer had said that he thought Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's first trailer held promise for a grenre he'd lost faith in.

"I love the genre, but I feel it has been allowed to go a little - well, actually, quite a lot - stale when it comes to moment to moment mechanics," he said.

Jaffe left Eat Sleep Play at the end of Twisted Metal's development, to set up a team closer to his home town. The new developer's first project is still to be determined, and Jaffe remains firm that rumours that he is going casual are false. He's also quick to dismiss talk of a browser-based game:

"I remain incredibly enthusiastic about the browser space in terms of its ease of access, the number of people who can experience the game," he noted.

"But it doesn't mean that's where we're going to end up."
