Darksiders Genesis reveals War's hellish combat style in new trailer

The latest trailer for Darksiders Genesis offers an up-close look at playable character War.

War is one of the two characters available in the upcoming game from Airship Syndicate. In two-player co-operative mode, Darksiders Genesis has you choose between War and his brother Strife before heading out into diablo-style combat. As you can see in the gameplay trailer below, War has a distinctively melee style of combat compared to his big bro.

"War, the Rider of the Red Horse, is both honorable and savage," reads an overview of the character from publisher THQ Nordiq.

"The youngest of the Four Horseman, but his age is no indication of his experience on the battleground. He has battled countless enemies with his furious weapon Chaoseater and the protection of his impervious armor. Always by his side is Ruin, War’s phantom steed. Ruin is both mighty and graceful with its blackened coat and fiery hooves and mane. War was wrongly framed by Abaddon for starting the Apocalypse too soon and was imprisoned for over one hundred years by The Charred Council. Well, at least he has beautiful long and white hair. Without split ends."

Darksiders Genesis is a Diablo-like, top-down action RPG featuring the four horsemen. The game is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC via Steam, and Stadia later this year.
