It's okay to be scared of Dark Souls 3's Darkwraiths
Dark Souls 3 players can encounter a Darkwraith even before the complete Undead Settlement, if they do a bit of treasure hunting and side questing, and there's another one off the beaten track in swamps near Farron Keep. On their own, they're daunting but not impossible.
But most players will first come across these deadly invaders in a pair, in the area just ahead of the Abyss Watchers boss arena. Again, they're not impossible, but many players will find ways to avoid the whole deadly situation if they can, so as to hit the boss with full Estus.
It looks like that's what Sekaito had in mind in this Abyss Watchers run below. Unfortunately, one of the Darkwraiths wasn't willing to let its prey go so easily. What happened next may surprise you. Behold:
Just look at it go. It's actually really comforting to see the Darkwraith take the first phase of the boss down so easily, because it just goes to show that the fight isn't really that hard; it's just the other knights who make it difficult.
This isn't the first time we've seen AI turn on itself; Mimics will also attack enemies, as we saw in a demonstration of how seriously Dark Souls 3 OP Mimics are (much scarier than Darkwraiths). I wonder how often enemies can be gulled into fighting each other? If there were some way to trigger it reliably, you could laugh your way through most of the game.
It's worthwhile learning to fight Darkwraiths at it will set you up to battle NPCs and engage in PvP - and give you a good idea of how powerful you will be against the Abyss Watchers boss, I guess. They can also be farmed for the best sword in Dark Souls 3, which is certainly worth your consideration.
