Dark Souls 2 website offers death, clear statistics

Dark Souls 2 is barely available, but has already been finished over 1,500 times, according to a promotional website.

For this third entry in the Souls family of games, From Software kindly provided some insight into the burning question of just how often players die in-game. You can check statistics at the obelisk in Majula, but there's also a website where you can view total in-game deaths, game completion, and what percentage of players are dead or alive at a given time.

It looks like the statistics may be a bit off at present - if you compare PlayStation 3 to Xbox 360, the discrepancy in death and completion totals is pretty ridiculous - especially as the developer has a larger historical fanbase on PS3 thanks to the PS3 exclusive Demon's Souls.

Accuracy will probably improve as time goes on and From Software gathers more metrics and irons out the bugs. They'll probably never be 100% accurate though, as many veteran Souls players play offline to avoid invasion and spoilers.

The PC version is due at the end of April. In a recent interview, From Software said the delay is because the PC version of Dark Souls 2 supports multiple resolutions and better keyboard bindings.

Thanks, Kotaku.
