Cyberpunk 2077 creative director joins Blizzard
Sebastian Stepien, who spent nearly 13 years at CD Projekt Red, has left for a job at Blizzard.
Sebastian Stepien's most recent roles were Cyberpunk 2077's narrative and setting director, as well as the game's creative director. As a creative director, Stepien spent six years (2013-2019) ensuring the game maintains a set vision.
Then, in July, 2016, he added the role of narrative and setting director to his responsibilities. According to Stepien's LinkedIn page (via ResetEra), the veteran designer joined Blizzard this month as a creative director, though the project's name isn't mentioned.
Stepien started out at CD Projekt Red in 2006, and has worked on The Witcher series as well as Cyberpunk 2077. We may never know why he left, but it's likely because the game is in the final stages of production.
It's possible that his job is simply done, but there's always the possibility that another reboot or a major change in direction got him to make the call. Regardless, this is undoubtedly a great hire for Blizzard.
Cyberpunk 2077 does not yet have a release date, but you can catch up on everything we know in our mega-page.
