It looks like Crytek's next game is a sandbox shooter

What's next for the house of Crysis?

It would seem that Crytek is working on a sandbox first-person shooter.

That's according to a job ad for the company's Frankfurt studio – as spotted by WCCFTech – which is hiring for an "unannounced AAA project" at the moment. One of the requirements for a game designer role the company is looking to fill is "Deep passion for gaming, preferably FPS sandbox games."

Beyond the fact it's working on a first-person shooter, there's little else to go on. It's possible that Crytek is working on a brand new IP, but the studio could also be working on a new entry in the Crysis series.

This comes in the wake of a rather busy 2020 for Crytek, which saw it finally release its Early Access shooter Hunt: Showdown in 1.0 in February following its Early Access launch at the start of 2018. Meanwhile, the company also released a remastered version of its classic game Crysis, which hit PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in September following a delay from July.
