Crying is not Enough looks creepy as heck
Looking for an unsettling indie horror game? Crying is not Enough might scratch your itch.
There are some fascinating horror games in the works, like this one where you explore a flooded Lovecraftian town or another where you are pursued by hostile drivers.
At first glance, the upcoming Crying is not Enough looks straightforward by comparison. It certainly meets the abandoned hospital, shambling mutant, and antagonistic doctor checklist. But the trailer shows an truly impressive eye for building a tense atmosphere, which makes me hopeful for the game's release date this week.
Crying is not Enough follows Jacob Helten, who has been assisting his wife following a car accident. When she disappears from the hospital after a promising recovery, Helten starts peeking under the hospital's surface and discovers nothing is as it seems. To find Helten's wife and survive, you'll need to gather weapons, battle mutated patients, and solve Resident Evil-style puzzles that extend well beyond the hospital.
This game is the debut entry from Storyline Team, a two-person dev team based out of Greece. While the general premise and dialogue is a little basic, all media to emerge from this project so far is unsettling and remarkably on point. It's harder than it seems to balance purist horror with gory kill shots, but Crying is not Enough is headed in the right direction.
Even better, you don't have long to wait to play for yourself. Crying is not Enough launches for PC on June 8, 2018. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases will follow in Q3 2018.
