Crucible, Amazon's free-to-play PvPvE shooter releases May 20

Crucible launches in a little over two weeks.

Crucible, Amazon Games' free-to-play team-based shooter, finally has a release date. The game will be available on May 20 on Steam.

Crucible is a PvPvE shooter where you get to pick from ten characters - called hunters - that each bring unique weapons and abilities to the fight. Players are dropped into an open world to fight monsters and each other, and to survive the planet's dangers. As you play, you collect Essence, which you can invest back into your character to boost your power.

Crucible launches with three modes: Heart of the Hives, Harvester Command, and Alpha Hunters. In Heart of the Hives (4v4), each team races to fight bosses while fending off the other team, with the ultimate goal of capturing three Hive hearts. Harvester Command (8v8) takes the PvP a bit further with two teams both trying to capture and hold as many Harvesters as possible to reach the Essence target.

Alpha Hunters is the more straightforward PvP fight where eight two-player squads go at it. If you're interested, head over to the official Crucible website for more.
