Crota's End raid mechanics leak from Destiny patch 1.03
Destiny's latest update provides a lot of information for eager raiders - if you know where to look. Spoilers for the Crota's End raid within.
Destiny expansion The Dark Below adds a new raid, Crota's End, in addition to various other PVE and PvP content.
Since the first raid, the Vault of Glass, is one of the most satisfying and challenging experiences the shooter MMO offers, we're all very keen to discover what Crota's End will be like - can Bungie surprise us again with a new set of fight mechanics?
Redittor debugman18 has been digging about in DestinyDB (which has been updated with a slew of new content related to The Dark Below) and thinks the answer is probably "yes".
This intrepid fan has found a number of new weapons and armour pieces which seem to relate to the raid in some way - much as Vault of Glass has its own set of equipment wiuth perks that aid in defeating it.
On a chest piece called Relentless harness, there's a perk called "Moment of Speed" which references something called "Oversoul's Gaze". We know the final boss of Crota's End is called the Oversoul, suggesting Oversoul's Gaze is a status effect or similar mechanic employed by that boss.
A pair of boots called Tireless Striders have a perk called "Swordbearer's Touch", which grant bonus agility while "carrying the sword of a Hive Swordbearer". I am so unbearably excited to have another go with one of those bad boys.
On a gun called Fang of Ir Yût there are two perks which likely relate to the raid. One does bonus damage against "stronger Hive enemies", hem hem, and another highlights enemies struck by the weapon. As The Dark Below probably takes place in the dark, you can see how that might be useful.
Visit Reddit to see the rest of debugman18's excellent sleuthing; they found several more Hive-specific perks and another reference to Oversoul's gaze.
