Crackdown 3 has not been cancelled, Microsoft would like to reassure you
Don't panic; Crackdown 3 is still coming.
Earlier this week, a number of reports started making the rounds about Amazon Spain cancelling pre-orders of Crackdown 3, which lead people to conclude that the game had been cancelled.
This is not in fact the case, as many other online retailers - including other Amazon branches - have not cancelled pre-orders. But to put an end to all speculation, Xbox marketing head Aaron Greenberg confirmed on Twitter that Crackdown 3 remains in development.
"The team continues to work hard on the game for our fans, you should contact Amazon directly for any questions related to orders with them," he said on Twitter.
In a followup tweet, Greenberg clarified that pre-order cancellations were due to a "technical issue on Amazon side and is being addressed."
It's understandable why some would find it easy to believe Crackdown 3 has been cancelled. Outside of a weak showing at last year's E3, Microsoft has not mentioned the game since. We've not seen new trailers, previews, and didn't get any new information.
The game was initially pegged for a November launch alongside the Xbox One X, before it was delayed to the spring of this year. Spring is almost over, of course, which means it has likely been pushed back again.
Crackdown 3 will likely show up again at this year's Xbox E3 show, though this time we hope it comes with a release date.
