Crackdown 3 adds a wing suit and airstrikes, which might be enough for us to reinstall
Even if you bounced off Crackdown 3 at launch (like I did), the additions in this latest update reeeeally look like fun.
Crackdown 3 had some positive reviews (including our own), but few were glowing, and after a long wait it was generally viewed as a disappointment. Sales were low, but this is likely because of its day one availability of Xbox One Game Pass.
Now, with this Flying High update, Crackdown 3 offers us something new and exciting - wings.
This update adds a wing suit for your agent, so that they can fly around and divebomb enemies like Falcon in The Avengers. It looks...great. 'Potentially going to reinstall the game' great. It looks like there will be some flying challenges to complete too.
There are also a handful of weapons and abilities being added, including a big ol' hammer with elemental attacks and a cluster bomb that splits up into a bunch of rubber duckies. Better still, you now have the ability to summon militia agents or even an airstrike onto your enemies, letting you rein down destruction without needing to squeeze the trigger.
It looks like a substantial update - hopefully it'll improve the experience for Crackdown fans who didn't enjoy the third game, because the urge to jump in and go orb collecting is still very much there.
Crackdown 3 is available on PC and XBox One, and as part of Game Pass.
